Al-Jolani Cancels Holidays from the Era of Al-Assad and Declares Syrian Revolution Day.

The head of the new Syrian administration, Abu Muhammad al-Jolani, issued a decree regarding official holidays in the country. He added Liberation Day and Syrian Revolution Day while canceling holidays commemorating the October Liberation War, Martyrs’ Day, and Teachers’ Day.

The presidential decree stated that “March 18 and December 8, marking the start of the revolution and Liberation Day, are national holidays with official time off.”

During a visit to the National Library in Damascus to oversee the election process for members of the People's Assembly, al-Jolani said that within just a few months, Syria had accomplished a tremendous feat and entered a new electoral phase.

He emphasized that Syrians are proud to have transitioned from a period of war and chaos to elections and participatory governance in a matter of months. He noted that many suspended laws still require voting to move forward with reconstruction.

He stressed that all Syrians must contribute to rebuilding their country, saying, “We need new achievements in the coming days to rebuild Syria.”
