Prime Minister Mohammed Shia' Al-Sudani has approved the results of the investigation into the "Al-Kut Hypermarket" fire, which confirmed administrative and legal negligence that allowed construction without a permit and electrical connections without proper approvals.

According to the decision, the former governor of Wasit, the civil defense director in the province, the former and current directors of Al-Kut municipality, and the director of electricity distribution in Wasit, along with a number of employees, have been referred to the judiciary. Relevant ministries have also been instructed to form disciplinary committees to impose administrative penalties on those found negligent.
