Syrian President Ahmad Al-Sharaa warned that any attempts to divide the region could lead to the disintegration of nations. He pointed out that the current world map is a product of World War I and has seen little change since—except after “a great flood of blood.”
Al-Sharaa explained that partitioning northeastern Syria, for example, would significantly impact Iraq and Turkey, because “division breeds contagion.” He noted that other regions around the world might consider separation if it occurs, such as Northern Ireland, Catalonia in Spain, and even some U.S. states like Texas and California.
