Baghdad and Muscat Sign Two Agreements and 24 Joint Memoranda of Understanding.

On Wednesday, the Iraqi government signed two agreements and 24 joint memoranda of understanding across various fields with the Sultanate of Oman.

Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia' Al-Sudani, along with Omani Deputy Prime Minister Shihab bin Tariq Al Said, oversaw the signing ceremony, according to a statement from Al-Sudani’s office. The agreements followed a series of dialogues and discussions held in Baghdad and Muscat between Iraqi and Omani delegations.

The first agreement involves mutual visa exemption for holders of diplomatic, special, and service passports. The second agreement aims to avoid double taxation and prevent tax evasion on income and capital.

The memoranda of understanding cover a wide range of areas, including

- Justice and law

- Tourism

- Historical documentation and records management

- Youth and sports cooperation

- Housing and urban planning

Additional memoranda include cooperation in:

- Higher education and scientific research

- Educational and pedagogical fields

- Information exchange and joint collaboration in the capital markets sector

- Telecommunications

- Oil storage

- Stock exchange collaboration

- Iraqi Chambers of Commerce Union

- Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry

- Establishment of a smart city in Karbala Province

On Wednesday, Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia' Al-Sudani arrived in the Sultanate of Oman on an official visit, heading a ministerial delegation.
