Iranian President to Visit New York Next Week.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian is scheduled to visit New York next week, marking his first trip since the U.S. attack on Iranian nuclear facilities.

According to Iran’s “Breaking News” agency, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi will accompany Pezeshkian during the visit. The trip is expected to provide an opportunity for direct talks with leaders of the three European countries (E3) regarding the “snapback” mechanism and Iran’s nuclear file.

Pezeshkian’s visit coincides with an unprecedented escalation in the nuclear issue, as the European troika—Germany, France, and the United Kingdom—announced the activation of the snapback mechanism to reimpose UN sanctions on Iran, a move Tehran has described as “politically motivated.”

Under this mechanism, sanctions could take effect in less than 30 days following the expiration of UN Security Council Resolution 2231.

The visit also aligns with the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly, set to begin on September 9.

It’s worth noting that President Pezeshkian visited New York last year to attend the UN General Assembly, marking his first appearance since being elected President of Iran in July 2024.
