Prime Minister Mohammed Shiaa Al-Sudani Praises Relations with Oman and Calls for Private Sector Cooperation.

Prime Minister Mohammed Shia' Al-Sudani departed for the Sultanate of Oman on Wednesday, following an official invitation from His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq Al Said.

In a press statement delivered at Baghdad International Airport, Prime Minister Al-Sudani affirmed that the visit would focus on bilateral relations and regional developments. The primary goal, he said, is to expand ties and elevate the level of partnership between Iraq and Oman, strengthening these bonds in a way that benefits both peoples.

He noted that the visit was preceded by preparations and joint committee meetings, resulting in the drafting of several memorandums of understanding in areas such as energy, tourism, oil storage and refining, industrial development and localization of defense industries, maritime transport and port management, scientific research and educational cooperation, avoidance of double taxation, housing and urban planning, youth and sports, trade exchange and export development, competition enhancement and anti-monopoly efforts, radio and television cooperation, telecommunications, and coordination between the Federation of Iraqi Chambers of Commerce and the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The prime minister emphasized that since its inception, the government has been committed to strengthening ties with its Arab brothers through bilateral and multipolar partnerships, adopting a productive diplomatic approach. He praised Oman’s supportive stance toward Iraq—both officially and among the public—throughout the various challenges the country has faced.

He also highlighted Iraq’s current stability, its principled and clear positions in the regional arena, and its role in promoting regional stability. He pointed to Iraq’s ongoing urban and developmental renaissance, noting that Omani and other Arab partners will play a vital role in advancing development, investing in available opportunities, and building long-term partnerships.

Prime Minister Al-Sudani called on the Omani private sector to collaborate with its Iraqi counterpart across all fields and to help create job opportunities for youth, emphasizing that Iraq’s young population is full of expertise, energy, and ambition for a promising future and successful ventures.
