A spokesperson for the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad denied reports of a complete withdrawal of American forces from the capital starting tomorrow.

The spokesperson clarified that the “reports are inaccurate,” noting that the Combined Joint Task Force—Operation Inherent Resolve is continuing its work in accordance with the timeline outlined in the joint statement issued on September 27, 2024, regarding the conclusion of the international coalition’s military mission in Iraq.

He added that this transition “represents the natural evolution of the coalition’s military mission toward a more traditional bilateral security relationship,” emphasizing that details related to military plans and operations are referred to the U.S. Department of Defense.
