The International Atomic Energy Agency announces the return of inspectors to Iran..

The Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Grossi, announced that a team of the agency’s inspectors has “returned to Iran” for the first time since the Israeli and American strikes on the Islamic Republic’s nuclear facilities in June.

Tehran had suspended its cooperation with the UN-affiliated agency due to its failure to condemn the unprecedented war launched by Israel starting June 13, which saw U.S. involvement through the bombing of three nuclear sites.

Speaking to Fox News in an interview aired Tuesday, Grossi said, “The first team of IAEA inspectors has returned to Iran… and we are about to start again.”

He added, “In Iran, as you know, there are several facilities, some of which were attacked and others not… We are currently discussing practical steps that can be taken to resume our work there.”

Grossi’s remarks came on the same day Iran held talks in Geneva with the European Troika (Britain, France, and Germany) in an effort to avoid the activation of the “snapback mechanism” by the Europeans, which would reimpose international sanctions on Tehran.

Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi, who attended the negotiations, stated that “the time has come” for the three European countries “to make the right choice and give diplomacy time and space.”
