The United States of America expressed deep concern on Saturday regarding the ongoing operations and regional expansion of ISIS and al-Qaeda.
In a post, the U.S. Embassy stated, “The United States continues to prioritize partnerships with allies and regional actors in counterterrorism efforts. We express our deep concern over the ongoing operations and regional expansion of ISIS—the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria—and al-Qaeda.”
It added, “The United States also commends the UN member states that have continued to exert pressure in the fight against terrorism in Iraq, Syria, and Somalia, which has helped limit ISIS operations.”
This statement comes in conjunction with the beginning of the withdrawal of U.S. forces from Iraqi bases, which is expected to be completed next month.
