The official Syrian news agency (SANA) reported that Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shibani met with an Israeli delegation in Paris on Tuesday to discuss “de-escalation” between the two countries, with the aim of promoting “regional stability.”
According to the agency, Foreign Minister Asaad Hassan al-Shibani met with the Israeli delegation in the French capital to discuss several issues related to enhancing stability in the region and southern Syria. The discussions are reportedly taking place under American mediation as part of diplomatic efforts aimed at strengthening security and stability in Syria and preserving the unity and integrity of its territory.
The talks focused on reducing tensions, non-interference in Syria’s internal affairs, reaching understandings that support regional stability, monitoring the ceasefire in Suwayda Province, and reactivating the 1974 Disengagement Agreement between Syria and Israel—specifically regarding the cessation of hostilities and the supervision of the demilitarized zone by United Nations forces.
