Abu Mohammad al-Jolani, head of Syria’s transitional phase, affirmed the unity of Syrian territory and dismissed the possibility of the country’s partition, stating that the factors for such a scenario are “unavailable and nearly impossible in Syria.”

In a dialogue session attended by several ministers, along with academics, politicians, members of professional syndicates, and community leaders in Idlib Province, al-Jolani said, “Anyone calling for Syria’s partition is politically ignorant and a dreamer. Often, such dreamy ideas lead their proponents to self-destruction.”

He added, “I do not see any real threat of partition in Syria. There are desires among some individuals to divide the country and attempts to create local and internal cantons, but logically, politically, ethnically, and intellectually, this is impossible.”

Al-Jolani warned against “negative competition, the obsession with positions, political division, and the pursuit of roles,” stressing that such behavior undermines the fabric of society, especially during the state-building phase, which has its own unique conditions.

He also pointed out that “some parties relying on regional powers, such as Israel, is extremely problematic. The southern region is densely populated, and any enemy attempting to enter would need to station a policeman at every doorstep—something that is practically unfeasible.”
