U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio revealed that the United States is making efforts to designate the Muslim Brotherhood as a terrorist organization.

In a televised interview, Rubio stated that "the country is in the process of classifying the Muslim Brotherhood as a terrorist organization," noting that "this is currently in preparation."

He added, "The classification process is long and complex, but work is underway," pointing out that "it’s clear there are different branches of the Muslim Brotherhood, so each branch must be identified."

He explained:

"We continuously review groups to classify them for what they truly are: supporters of terrorism, possibly terrorists themselves—whatever the case may be. We haven’t done this in a long time, so we have a lot to catch up on."

Rubio noted that "the process involves a thorough review of each branch of the group individually, with documented evidence to ensure the decision stands up to legal challenges," considering that "the Muslim Brotherhood raises serious concerns."

Additionally, Republican Senator Ted Cruz submitted a bill to Congress last month proposing the designation of the Muslim Brotherhood as a terrorist organization.
