On Wednesday, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) issued a statement marking 40 days since the assassination of several commanders during the recent confrontation with Israel.
In the statement commemorating the “Arbaeen of the Martyrs of Power,” the IRGC declared, “In coordination with other branches of Iran’s armed forces, we are fully prepared at any time and in any place to deliver a decisive and painful response to any threat or aggression from the United States or the Zionist entity. We loudly and forcefully affirm that any threat to the country’s security or territorial integrity will be met with a crushing retaliation that exceeds the enemy’s expectations and will be far more severe than what occurred during ‘True Promise III’ against the warmongering aggressors.”
The statement also called on “all segments of the great Iranian people, especially the younger generation, to participate widely in the Arbaeen ceremony for the Martyrs of Power, which will be held Thursday at Imam Khomeini’s Musalla in Tehran.” It added that “this presence can mark a new chapter in Iran’s history of strength and resistance.”
It’s worth noting that in June 2025, the so-called “12-Day War” erupted between Iran and Israel, representing the most direct military confrontation between the two nations. The conflict began with Israeli airstrikes targeting Iranian sites and the assassination of military leaders and nuclear scientists under the pretext of “neutralizing the Iranian nuclear threat.” In response, Tehran launched widespread missile and drone attacks on Israeli territory.
The escalation ended with President Trump announcing a ceasefire agreement that took effect on June 24, 2025.
