On Monday, the Chief Public Prosecutor, the Head of the Judicial Supervision Authority, and a number of judicial supervisors visited the headquarters of the Wasit Court of Appeals to oversee the investigation into the tragic fire in Al-Kut. The judicial delegation stressed the need to expedite the investigation procedures and hold those responsible accountable.

The Supreme Judicial Council stated that during the visit, a summary of the judicial procedures was presented. They also visited the incident site to assess the extent of the damage and the tragedy caused by the fire, conveying the condolences of the President of the Supreme Judicial Council to the people of Wasit for this calamity.

The Council emphasized the urgency of completing the investigation procedures and taking all necessary legal measures to uncover the truth and hold the negligent parties accountable under the law, ensuring justice and fairness for the victims.

Around 70 people, including men, women, and children, lost their lives on the night of Wednesday, July 16, to Thursday, July 17, due to a devastating fire at a "hypermarket" shopping center in the city of Al-Kut.
