A delegation from the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee of Iran’s Islamic Consultative Assembly is visiting Iraq to enhance security and political cooperation. The focus of the visit is to review the current state of relations between the two countries.
Committee spokesperson Ebrahim Rezaei told Iran’s IRNA news agency that the delegation arrived in Baghdad to follow up on previous agreements between the two sides.
Upon arrival at Baghdad airport, the delegation was received by Mohammedi, head of the Defense and Security Committee of the Iraqi Parliament.
Rezaei said the Iranian delegation paid tribute to the “martyrs of the resistance,” particularly commemorating General Qassem Soleimani and Iraqi commander Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis.
He also noted that the parliamentary delegation will meet with officials from Tehran’s embassy at the embassy headquarters in Baghdad.
According to Rezaei, the Iranian parliamentarians are scheduled to hold meetings and discussions with Iraqi Parliamentary Speaker Mahmoud al-Mashhadani, along with other senior Iraqi officials.
