Upon receiving news of the fire that broke out in a commercial center in the city of Al-Kut, Iraq—resulting in numerous deaths and injuries—His Holiness Pope Leo XIV expressed his spiritual solidarity with all those suffering from this tragedy, especially the wounded and grieving families.
His message of sympathy was conveyed in a telegram signed by Cardinal Pietro Parolin, Secretary of State of the Vatican.
