On Friday, the European Union decided to impose new sanctions on Russia, including lowering the price of Russian oil intended for export.

A diplomat in Brussels stated at the conclusion of a morning meeting of EU ambassadors, “We have reached an agreement on a strong and effective package of sanctions against Russia,” according to Western media outlets.

It is worth noting that U.S. President Donald Trump gave Russia a 50-day deadline to reach a peace agreement with Ukraine or face severe sanctions. At the same time, he announced a plan to send large quantities of American weapons to Kyiv, but through NATO.

In a potentially more dramatic development, the Financial Times reported that Trump spoke with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky about supplying Ukraine with American missiles to strike Moscow.

However, when asked by journalists at the White House whether Zelensky should target Moscow, Trump replied, “No, he should not target Moscow.”
