In an unprecedented escalation on the political and diplomatic front, Israeli Diaspora Minister Amichai Chikli called on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, for the assassination of interim Syrian President Ahmad Al-Sharaa, describing him as a “brutal terrorist killer” and an “Islamo-Nazi.”

In a post on his official account on the platform "X," Chikli wrote, "It's best to eliminate him now." He further compared Al-Sharaa to Hamas, stating, “If he looks like Hamas, talks like Hamas, and acts like Hamas—he is Hamas,” urging that he be dealt with as an “imminent security threat that cannot be postponed.”
