Iranian Interior Minister Esmail Momeni expressed deep appreciation for the firm positions taken by the Iraqi government and people in condemning the recent Israeli aggression against Iran. He emphasized the strength of the fraternal ties between the two countries, especially regarding cooperation in organizing the Arbaeen pilgrimage.
According to Tasnim International News Agency, Momeni made these remarks during a reception for Iraqi Interior Minister Abdul-Amir Al-Shammari, who arrived in Tehran to attend a trilateral meeting with the interior ministers of Iran, Iraq, and Pakistan, focusing on arrangements for the Arbaeen pilgrimage.
Momeni said, “We appreciate the resolute and clear positions of the Iraqi government and people in confronting Zionist attacks against Iran. We hope today’s meeting will be fruitful in facilitating the movement of pilgrims during Arbaeen and yield constructive results for both nations.”
He added, “We are always grateful to the Iraqi people and government for their warm hospitality toward Arbaeen pilgrims. The Leader of the Islamic Revolution and the Iranian government have repeatedly expressed their gratitude for these blessed efforts.”
The Iranian minister also praised Iraq’s assistance in repatriating Iranian pilgrims during the 12-day imposed war, describing it as a sign of the deep brotherhood between the two countries.
