Iranian President Injured in Israeli Assassination Attempt.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian was wounded in the Israeli attack that targeted the Supreme National Security Council last month, according to Iran's semi-official Fars News Agency.

The report stated that Pezeshkian sustained a minor leg injury in the Israeli strike on the Council meeting held on June 16.

The attack reportedly targeted a meeting attended by the heads of the three branches of government and senior officials. Officials managed to escape the building, which housed the meeting in its lower floors, through a pre-prepared emergency exit after several were injured.

Due to the precision of the information Israel had about the meeting, Iranian authorities are investigating the possibility of a “mole.

The agency noted that the operation resembled a past assassination attempt targeting former Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah.

During the attack, six bombs or missiles were launched at the building’s entrances and exits, aiming to block escape routes and cut off airflow. After the explosions, the power was cut, but officials were still able to flee via the emergency exit.

Pezeshkian accused Israel of attempting to assassinate him during an interview last week with American journalist Tucker Carlson, without specifying the timing.

He said, “They tried, yes. They acted on it, but they failed.” He added, “It wasn’t the United States behind the attempt to kill me. It was Israel. I was at a meeting, and they tried to bomb the area we were in.”

He continued: “I’m not afraid to sacrifice myself in defense of my country and its sovereignty. I’m ready to give my life for my homeland. But will that bring security to the region?”
