Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ruled out the possibility of reaching a comprehensive agreement with Hamas in Gaza, describing the idea as "impossible."
According to the Israeli Broadcasting Authority, Netanyahu made the remarks during a meeting in Washington on Wednesday with families of those kidnapped in Gaza. He was quoted as saying, "It is impossible to reach a comprehensive agreement, and this option has never been available."
Regarding who would be released from captivity under such an agreement, Netanyahu reiterated his previous statement: "Hamas will dictate the matter."
He emphasized again that, when it comes to the issue of releasing hostages during a ceasefire, "Hamas is the one that will dictate the terms of the agreement and determine who will be released."
Netanyahu’s office stated that the hostage issue was a major topic of discussion during his meetings with U.S. President Donald Trump and his team, adding that “efforts are ongoing to ensure the release of all Israeli hostages.”
