Hamas Says It Responded to Gaza Ceasefire Proposal Positively.

, Hamas stated that it had responded “positively” to a U.S.-brokered ceasefire proposal in Gaza and is ready to engage in talks regarding the implementation of the agreement, which includes the release of hostages and negotiations to end the war.

Earlier, U.S. President Donald Trump announced a “final proposal” for a 60-day ceasefire in the nearly 21-month-long conflict between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip, saying he expected a response from both sides within hours.

The agreement also includes the release of several hostages and the handover of some bodies.

It further outlines a “commitment to large-scale and needs-based delivery of humanitarian aid, in accordance with the January 19, 2025, agreement on humanitarian assistance.”

Hamas wrote on its official website:

“Hamas has completed its internal consultations as well as discussions with Palestinian factions and political forces regarding the latest proposal from the mediators to halt the aggression on our people in Gaza.”

“The movement delivered its response to the brotherly mediators in a positive spirit, reflecting its keenness to protect its people and prioritize the supreme national interest. Hamas is fully ready, and in all seriousness, to immediately enter a new round of negotiations on implementing this framework.”

A Palestinian official from an armed group allied with Hamas noted that concerns remain regarding humanitarian aid, the crossing through the Rafah border into Egypt, and clarifying the timeline for Israeli troop withdrawal.
