Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi confirmed his country’s readiness to resume nuclear negotiations with the United States.
In a post on the platform “X,” Araghchi stated, “If President Trump is sincere in his desire to reach an agreement, he must set aside his disrespectful and unacceptable tone toward Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and stop offending the millions of his devoted followers.”
Earlier, Iran submitted a message to the United Nations and the Security Council protesting what it described as “insulting remarks” made by U.S. and Israeli officials against Supreme Leader Khamenei.
Also, Reuters quoted President Donald Trump as saying, “Why does Khamenei say he won the war with Israel when he knows his statements are false and that’s not the case?” adding that he was fully aware of Khamenei’s whereabouts but chose not to allow U.S. or Israeli forces to target him.
Trump continued, “In the final stage of the war, Israel requested the return of a large group of aircraft that were en route to Tehran.”
Trump had also stated that he “saved” the life of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei from what he called a “gruesome death,” saying that Khamenei “should thank him,” referring to an earlier decision not to target him during the 12-day war with Israel.
