Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated on Sunday that the United States had committed serious violations and that Iran reserves all options to defend itself—marking the first official diplomatic response from Iran following the U.S. strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities.
In a post on “X” (formerly Twitter), Araghchi wrote that the U.S. had seriously violated the United Nations Charter, international law, and the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons by targeting peaceful Iranian nuclear sites.
He added, “This morning’s events are horrific and will have grave consequences. All UN member states should be concerned about this criminal and extremely dangerous breach of international norms.
He emphasized, “According to the UN Charter and its provisions that permit legitimate self-defense, Iran reserves all options to defend its sovereignty following the U.S. strikes.
