New Round of Talks Between Iran and the U.S. in Oman.

The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Tuesday that a new round of indirect negotiations with the United States has been scheduled in Muscat, Oman.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ismail Baqai stated in an official statement that Iranian Foreign Minister and chief negotiator Abbas Araghchi will visit Norway on Wednesday and Thursday, ahead of the scheduled talks in Muscat. He emphasized that this round of negotiations is part of a complex diplomatic process unfolding at this stage.

Baqai had previously indicated that Tehran would soon present a new proposal to the U.S. through Omani mediation, saying, "America must seize this opportunity before it's too late."

According to Iranian news agency Tasnim, informed sources revealed that Iran’s official response to the American proposal will be delivered within the next two days through diplomatic channels and will include an alternative framework for an agreement.

Sources also hinted that Iran is willing to continue holding further negotiations, though it remains firm on its so-called 'red lines' that cannot be crossed.

These diplomatic moves coincide with remarks by U.S. President Donald Trump at the White House, where he confirmed that Iran is engaged in negotiations related to the situation in Gaza, particularly concerning a ceasefire and hostage exchange between Israel and Hamas.

Additionally, U.S. news outlet Axios quoted a senior U.S. official stating that Trump views the Iran nuclear issue and the Gaza crisis as interconnected, forming part of a broader regional strategy that Washington seeks to reshape.

It is worth noting that in 2018, Trump withdrew the U.S. from the 2015 Iran nuclear deal, leading to heightened tensions and an increase in Iran’s nuclear enrichment activities.
