U.S. Withdraws from Two Largest Bases in Deir ez-Zor in Syria.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that U.S. forces have unexpectedly withdrawn from two military bases in eastern Deir ez-Zor, an area controlled by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).

According to the observatory's statement, the withdrawal process began gradually on May 18 but accelerated over the past two days, as U.S. convoys, including armored vehicles and logistical equipment, were seen leaving their positions at the Al-Omar oil field and Conoco gas plant, while coalition aircraft conducted intense surveillance flights.

Post-Withdrawal Developments

Following the withdrawal, SDF commando forces took control of the vacated positions, while sources from the Syrian Observatory confirmed that joint military operations would continue in the event of security campaigns or ISIS-related targets, with support from the U.S.-led coalition operating out of Al-Shaddadi base in southern Hasakah, where American troops remain stationed.
