According to Israel’s Channel 12, U.S. President Donald Trump has ordered the Pentagon and the military to cease coordination with Israel regarding a joint attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities.
The report aligns with Trump’s admission that he had warned Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu against military action on Iran, as nuclear negotiations between Washington and Tehran reached an advanced stage.
Trump’s Statements
On Wednesday, Trump confirmed to reporters:
"I want to be honest—yes, I did."
Asked whether he had urged Netanyahu in a call last week to refrain from military action, Trump responded:
"I told him it would not be appropriate at this time. We are having very good talks with them."
Trump added:
"I told him this would not be suitable right now because we are very close to a solution. I believe they want to reach a deal, and if we can do that, we will save many lives."
U.S.-Iran Negotiations & Israel’s Position
In recent weeks, Washington and Tehran have conducted five rounds of negotiations over Iran’s nuclear program, marking their highest level of engagement since the U.S. withdrew from the 2015 nuclear deal in 2018, during Trump’s first term.
Earlier on Wednesday, Iran announced that it may consider allowing U.S. inspectors from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to examine its nuclear facilities if an agreement with Washington is reached.
Despite the talks, Israel has repeatedly threatened military action against Iran, its longstanding adversary.
Concerns Over Possible Israeli Strike
U.S. media reports last week indicated that Israel is preparing to strike Iranian nuclear sites, even as U.S.-Iran negotiations continue.
Suspicions Over Iran’s Nuclear Intentions
Western nations, including the United States and Israel, suspect Iran of seeking nuclear weapons, but Tehran denies any such ambitions.
