Macron Signals Tougher Stance Against Israel and Says Recognizing Palestine Is a Duty.

On Friday, French President Emmanuel Macron declared that recognizing a Palestinian state is no longer just a "moral duty" but has become a "political necessity." He called on European nations to unite and apply collective pressure on Israel if it fails to respond quickly to the worsening humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

Macron’s Strong Statements on Gaza

Speaking at a press conference in Singapore, Macron emphasized the need for a response proportional to the scale of the tragedy in Gaza within the coming hours or days. Otherwise, he warned, Europe’s stance toward the Israeli government would harden.

Macron reiterated that France remains committed to the two-state solution as the only viable path to ending the Israeli Palestinian conflict, stressing that there is no place for double standards in France's Middle East policy.

Call for a Comprehensive Political Solution

The French president renewed his call for a broad political resolution to restore hope and peace to the region.

Macron’s Southeast Asia Tour

His remarks came at the end of his tour of Southeast Asia, which included Vietnam and Indonesia before his stop in Singapore. Earlier, in Jakarta on Wednesday, Macron stated that peace in the Middle East must be built on justice and mutual recognition, reaffirming France’s support for a sovereign Palestinian state alongside Israel.
