Iran: Uranium Enrichment Will Continue Regardless of Agreement with the U.S.

On Wednesday, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi reaffirmed that Iran will continue enriching uranium whether or not it reaches an agreement with the United States regarding its nuclear program.

Firm Iranian Stance on Nuclear Rights

Responding to statements by U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Araghchi declared, "We have already responded to these illogical demands. These unusual remarks do not contribute to the progress of negotiations."

He added, "Our position is completely clear: enrichment will continue, whether an agreement is reached or not. If other parties seek transparency regarding Iran’s peaceful nuclear program, we are prepared. However, in return, there must be a discussion on lifting the unjust sanctions imposed on the basis of baseless allegations about our nuclear activities."

Araghchi further emphasized, "If excessive demands persist and they attempt to deprive us of our rights, there will be no room for acceptance."

Ongoing Nuclear Negotiations in Muscat

He concluded by stating, "We are currently assessing whether we will participate in the next round of negotiations. We will confront exaggerations and excessive demands at the negotiating table, but we have never abandoned diplomatic pathways."

Last week, the fourth round of nuclear negotiations between Iran and the U.S. was held in Muscat, Oman, with a fifth round expected soon. The main dispute between the two sides remains Iran’s uranium enrichment, which American officials oppose, while Tehran insists on its right to enrich uranium for peaceful purposes, denying any military intentions.

Iranian Parliament’s Position on Enrichment Levels

On Wednesday, Iranian lawmakers declared that enrichment levels would not be restricted below 20%, affirming that it would be carried out in accordance with Iran’s daily needs and for peaceful purposes.

The Iranian news agency ISNA reported that Iranian MPs issued a statement, asserting, "The Iranian people have never sought nuclear weapons and will never pursue them." They added, "We, as members of parliament, clearly reaffirm that we will never give up our nuclear rights."
