Medical sources reported on Wednesday that the death toll in Gaza has risen to approximately 100 fatalities in the past 24 hours due to intense Israeli airstrikes on the area.
Ongoing Military Operations
Israeli warplanes carried out a series of air raids on Al-Qarara, north of Khan Younis, targeting a residential home in Jabalia town, another in Deir al-Balah, and a tent sheltering displaced people in Al-Mawasi, southern Gaza, resulting in numerous deaths and injuries.
Israeli forces continued ground incursions into Abasan and Khuza’a in southern Gaza, as well as Beit Lahia and Al-Salatin, while demolishing residential buildings west of Beit Lahia, northern Gaza.
Despite growing international criticism, Israel has continued its military campaign in Gaza. Meanwhile, Israeli officials confirmed allowing the entry of dozens of aid trucks.
Humanitarian Crisis & Aid Struggles
Two days after aid shipments began entering Gaza, new supplies have yet to reach residents in dire need, according to the United Nations. Experts warn that millions of Gaza residents face the risk of famine.
Under pressure, Israel agreed this week to allow a "limited" amount of aid into Palestinian territories after previously blocking food, medicine, and fuel, reportedly to pressure Hamas.
UN’s Concerns & Aid Distribution Issues
UN spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric stated that although aid has entered Gaza, humanitarian workers have been unable to distribute supplies properly, as Israeli forces required aid workers to reload supplies onto separate trucks, leaving insufficient time for delivery to distribution points.
The Israeli Coordination of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT) reported that five aid trucks entered Gaza on Monday, followed by 93 trucks on Tuesday. However, Dujarric emphasized that only a small number of these trucks actually reached Gaza.
Aid Priorities
The shipments include flour for bakeries, food for soup kitchens, baby food, and medical supplies. The UN humanitarian agency stated that infant formula is among the highest priorities in initial shipments.
