Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Ismail Baqai expressed Iran’s strong rejection of the final statement of the Arab Summit held in Baghdad, which addressed the three disputed islands (Greater Tunb, Lesser Tunb, and Abu Musa), affirming that they are an inseparable part of Iranian territory.
According to Iranian news agencies, Baqai stated that raising this issue is "unacceptable" and that Iran considers any claims regarding these islands to be contrary to the principles of the UN Charter and international law, including respect for territorial integrity, national sovereignty, and the principle of good neighborliness".
The summit’s final statement, in its 25th article, reaffirmed the UAE’s sovereignty over the three islands and called on Iran to engage with Abu Dhabi’s initiative to resolve the issue peacefully, either through direct negotiations or by referring the matter to the International Court of Justice.
