In his first Mass, Pope Leo XIV called on major world powers to "end the wars," addressing crowds in St. Peter’s Square on Sunday, marking his first public appearance since his election as Pope of the Vatican.
The new Pope, elected on May 8, called for "true and lasting peace" in Ukraine, a ceasefire in Gaza, and the release of all Israeli hostages, according to Reuters.
Additionally, the Pope welcomed the ceasefire between India and Pakistan, stating that he prays for God to grant the world a "miracle of peace."
