The Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) announced that it was responsible for two separate drone strikes targeting two Peshmerga positions in the Amedi district of Duhok Province.
In a statement, the PKK said its fighters carried out the operation with high precision and on a limited scale, aiming to prevent what it described as an attempt to block a vital road connecting the Zab area and Mount Gara —rugged mountainous locations that the PKK uses as bases for operations against the Turkish military.
The statement noted that one of the targeted positions is in an area where two PKK members were previously killed in clashes with Turkish forces.
The PKK further alleged that Peshmerga forces recently began constructing military bases and outposts in the same location, which it views as a serious escalation and a direct strategic threat to its presence in the region.
