Former U.S. President Donald Trump faced criticism for allegedly breaching the strict dress code during Pope Francis' funeral, held at St. Peter's Square in the Vatican with around 250,000 attendees, according to a report by Daily Mail published on Saturday.

The report stated that Trump arrived at the funeral wearing a medium-blue suit and a shiny blue tie , defying the rules that require men to wear a dark suit , black tie , white shirt , along with black shoes and socks as a traditional sign of respect.

Trump was not the only one criticized; Daily Mail noted that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky did not wear a tie, while former U.S. President Joe Biden also opted for a blue tie, which some viewed as a sign of "disrespect" for the solemn religious occasion.

Trump sat in the front row alongside prominent figures and royalty, wearing a blue suit adorned with a pin of the American flag. Meanwhile, his wife, Melania Trump, adhered to the Vatican's traditional dress code for women, wearing a conservative black coat , lace veil , and black gloves .
