Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated on Saturday that his meeting with former U.S. President Donald Trump at the Vatican could potentially become historic if it leads to ending the war between Kyiv and Russia.

In a post on Telegram, Zelensky wrote, "It was a good meeting. We discussed many matters face-to-face. We hope to reach a resolution."

He also mentioned that several issues were addressed, including "protecting the lives of our people, achieving a complete and unconditional ceasefire, and establishing a lasting and reliable peace that prevents the recurrence of war," according to Reuters.
