Iraq has expressed its support for the upcoming negotiations between Iran and the United States while voicing hope for positive results.
According to a statement from the Iraqi Embassy in Ankara, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein met with Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Saeed Khatib Zadeh at his residence in Antalya, Turkey, in the presence of Iraq's Ambassador to Ankara, Majid Al-Lajmawi.
The statement noted that the meeting discussed bilateral relations between Iraq and the Islamic Republic of Iran and ways to enhance mutual cooperation in various fields. The two sides also addressed regional developments, particularly in Syria, Lebanon, and Yemen.
The minister emphasized the importance of fostering regional dialogue and coordination to address shared challenges. He welcomed the upcoming talks between Iran and the United States, scheduled to take place in Oman, expressing hope that they would lead to positive outcomes contributing to regional stability.
At the end of the meeting, the Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister extended an official invitation to the minister to participate in the "Tehran Dialogue Forum," set to be held from May 16 to May 19.
