On Thursday, Iraqi Minister of Migration and Displacement, Evan Faeq Jabro, announced that Prime Minister Mohammed Shia' Al-Sudani had approved an exemption for Yazidi women from the age and grade requirements for admission to universities and postgraduate studies in Iraq.
In a statement, Jabro explained that this decision aims to improve the conditions of women returning from forced displacement, based on the principles of equality and ensuring their independence within families and society. She emphasized that the Prime Minister and the Supreme Council for Women's Affairs had approved a set of proposals to ease the suffering of returning women, in coordination with relevant sectoral authorities.
Among these proposals is the exemption of Yazidi women from the age requirement and a grade adjustment of up to 10 points or more for university and postgraduate admission, marking a significant step toward supporting their education and integrating them into society.
