Trump Threatens Military Action Against Iran If It Does Not End Its Nuclear Program.

U.S. President Donald Trump reiterated on Wednesday his threat to use military force against Iran if it does not agree to terminate its nuclear program. He emphasized that "Iran cannot be allowed to possess a nuclear weapon."

Trump stated that Israel would be the "leader" of any military attack on Iran should Tehran refuse to abandon its nuclear ambitions. He confirmed that military action against Iran is "entirely possible" if negotiations fail to reach an agreement, noting that "there is not much time" to finalize a deal on Iran's nuclear program.

When asked about the possibility of military intervention, Trump told reporters, "If necessary, absolutely." He added, "If military intervention is required, there will be military intervention. Israel, of course, will be heavily involved and at the forefront."

Trump made these remarks ahead of scheduled talks on Saturday in Oman between U.S. and Iranian officials. Earlier this week, Trump mentioned that the discussions would be "direct," while Tehran described them as "indirect" with the United States.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu commented following the announcement of the talks, stating that the "military option" would become "inevitable" if negotiations between Washington and Tehran drag on for too long. In a video statement on Tuesday, Netanyahu said, "We agree with Trump that Iran should not possess a nuclear weapon." He added, "This can be achieved through an agreement (ensuring the dismantling of Iran's nuclear facilities) under American supervision... This would be good." However, "the second option, if this does not happen, is that they stall in discussions, and then the military option becomes inevitable."
