The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has been mediating between Russia and Ukraine for months to facilitate prisoner exchange operations, having successfully mediated 13 exchanges so far. This reflects the UAE's diplomatic efforts in humanitarian work and peacebuilding.
On Wednesday, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced the success of its mediation efforts in completing a new prisoner exchange operation involving 175 prisoners from the Ukrainian side and 175 prisoners from the Russian side, totaling 350 prisoners.
The ministry stated that "the total number of prisoners exchanged between the two countries through UAE mediation has reached 3,233 prisoners."
The UAE expressed its gratitude to both countries for their cooperation with its mediation efforts, highlighting the trust placed in the UAE by Russia and Ukraine and their appreciation for the UAE's commitment to supporting all efforts aimed at resolving the crisis between the two nations.
The ministry also noted that "with the success of this mediation, the total number of UAE-mediated exchanges during the crisis has reached 13," emphasizing the strong friendship ties between the UAE, Russia, and Ukraine.
The UAE reaffirmed its commitment to continuing its efforts to support various initiatives aimed at achieving a peaceful resolution to the conflict in Ukraine and alleviating the humanitarian impacts of the crisis, including those affecting refugees and prisoners.
