The Syrian Civil Defense announced on Sunday that the death toll from the explosion in the Al-Raml district of the coastal city of Latakia has risen to 16, including 5 women and 5 children, with 18 others injured.
It clarified that the numbers are not final, as search and rescue operations continue, along with efforts to extract those trapped under the rubble.
Regarding the nature of the explosion, the Civil Defense stated that it occurred in a "scrap materials center beneath a four-story building, caused by remnants of war, according to preliminary data and residents' testimonies.
