After signing the constitutional declaration Al-Sharaa declares We will replace ignorance with knowledge.

After signing the draft constitutional declaration, Ahmed Al-Sharaa stated on Thursday that the declaration is a prelude to the path of construction and development, pledging to eliminate ignorance with knowledge.

In a speech from Damascus, he said, "We hope this will be a good beginning for the Syrian people on the path of construction and development.

He added, "We hope this will be a new era for Syria, in which we replace ignorance with knowledge and replace suffering with compassion.

Abdul Hamid Al-Awaq, a member of the committee responsible for drafting the Syrian constitutional declaration, explained that the declaration is based on the outcomes of the National Dialogue Conference, noting that the transitional period will last five years.

He mentioned that the committee divided the declaration into a preamble and four chapters, without any changes to the chapter on general provisions.

He further stated that the committee worked in an atmosphere of freedom without any restrictions and emphasized the state's commitment to maintaining the unity of the land and the people.

Additionally, the declaration includes a special chapter on rights and freedoms, creating a balance between social security and rights and freedoms, with an emphasis on the principle of the separation of powers.

The declaration also guarantees women's rights and freedom of expression, with Islamic jurisprudence being the primary source of legislation.

It stipulates that the People's Council has the right to question ministers, with executive power being concentrated in the hands of the president during the transitional period.

The declaration emphasizes the independence of the judiciary, the prohibition of exceptional courts, and that no authority shall be over the judiciary except the law.

It also announced the dissolution of the existing Constitutional Court, with the president having the authority to appoint a new Constitutional Court.

The constitutional declaration is a document intended to outline the next phase for Syria, specifically aiming to manage state affairs during the transitional period, which will last for five years.
