Syrian Presidency: Agreement Reached to Integrate Syrian Democratic Forces into State Institutions.

The Syrian presidency announced an agreement with Mazloum Abdi, commander of the Kurdish-majority Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), to integrate" all civil and military institutions affiliated with the Kurdish self-administration into the framework of the Syrian state.

The announcement of the agreement, which will be implemented by the end of the year, comes at a time when Syria has experienced the worst violence in the west of the country since the ousting of the former president in December.

The violence threatens the stability of the country, which is already in a fragile transitional phase as interim president Ahmed Al-Sharaa seeks to assert his authority across Syria after 13 years of civil war.

In a statement signed by both parties, the Syrian presidency explained that the agreement stipulates the "integration of all civil and military institutions in northeastern Syria within the administration of the Syrian state, including border crossings, airports, and oil and gas fields.

The agreement also affirms that "the Kurdish community is an essential component of the Syrian state," which "guarantees its right to citizenship and all constitutional rights," while rejecting "calls for division, hate speech, and attempts to sow discord among different components of Syrian society."
