Widespread Anger Sweeps America: Researchers and Students Protest Against Trump.

Several American cities witnessed widespread protests involving researchers, students, and scientists, rejecting the policies of President Donald Trump's administration, which led to significant cuts in federal agency budgets.

These demonstrations come amid the Trump administration's move to reduce federal spending, including withdrawing from the World Health Organization and the Paris Climate Agreement, as well as reducing the number of federal employees in health and environmental sectors.

Thousands of protesters took to the streets in major cities such as New York, Washington, Boston, and Chicago, raising slogans demanding support and funding for scientific research and condemning what they described as an "unprecedented attack on science.

In Washington, D.C., protesters carried signs reading "Fund Science, Not the Rich," emphasizing that "America was built on science," highlighting the importance of scientific research in the country's development.

Jesse Heitner, a researcher at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston and one of the protesters, told AFP, as reported by Shafaq News Agency, "I have never felt this angry before," pointing out that "the Trump administration is destroying everything.

Heitner specifically criticized the appointment of Robert Kennedy Jr. as Health Secretary, given his skepticism about vaccine efficacy.

Many researchers also expressed concerns about the future of funding and research grants, as the suspension of some grants has led to reduced admissions to PhD programs and fewer research positions, threatening the future of scientific research in the United States, especially for those at the beginning of their academic and professional careers.
