Israel Conducts Airstrikes in Lebanon Ahead of Funeral of Nasrallah.

The official National News Agency in Lebanon reported on Sunday that Israel conducted a series of airstrikes in the southern part of the country, ahead of the funeral for Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, who was killed in an Israeli airstrike last September.

The agency mentioned that Israeli aircraft "targeted the Tyre district with airstrikes," along with another airstrike around 9 a.m. targeting Marjaayoun in the Nabatieh district," in southern Lebanon.

The Israeli army announced on Sunday that it had "precisely targeted a military site containing rocket launchers and combat equipment inside Lebanon, where Hezbollah activities were detected.

Additionally, the army stated that it attacked "several Hezbollah rocket platforms" in southern Lebanon.

On Saturday, the Israeli army said in a statement that it also targeted "transport routes" on the border between Syria and Lebanon.

It added that Hezbollah was using these routes "to transport combat equipment into Lebanon," describing this as "a blatant violation of the agreements between Israel and Lebanon.

These developments come as Lebanon prepares for the funeral of Nasrallah, who was killed in an Israeli strike on his underground headquarters in the Harat Hreik area in the southern suburbs of Beirut, the party's stronghold, on September 27, 2024.
