Holy Year Events Canceled Due to Pope Francis Health.

The Vatican announced on Tuesday the cancellation of the papal meetings scheduled for the beginning of the week, delegating other officials to handle urgent tasks, as Pope Francis remains hospitalized.

This decision has led to further reductions in activities related to the "Holy Year," a Catholic celebration held every 25 years to encourage believers to visit Rome and participate in special Jubilee Year religious activities.

The Vatican has not yet specified the duration of the Pope's stay in the hospital, noting only that his treatment requires an appropriate" stay, especially after undergoing two adjustments to his medication regimen due to the complexity of his health condition.

The "Holy Year" is expected to attract around 30 million people to Rome to attend masses and special papal meetings throughout 2025. However, the ongoing illness of the Pope casts doubt on the feasibility of carrying out these events as planned.

Pope Francis was taken to Gemelli Hospital in Rome last Friday after his bronchitis worsened, which had persisted for more than a week. The Vatican stated that his condition remains "good" despite the health complications he faces.
