The Israeli Ministry of Defense announced on Sunday the arrival of a shipment of "MK-84" bombs from the United States, following a decision by Donald Trump to send them after they were suspended by the administration of former President Joe Biden last year.
The Ministry of Defense stated in a press release that "in a joint operation led by the Israeli Ministry of Defense's procurement mission, the Israeli Army's Planning Division, and the International Shipping Unit in the Ministry of Defense, a shipment of heavy aerial bombs was received and unloaded last night.
The statement added that "the ship carrying MK-84 heavy munitions arrived at Ashdod Port, and its cargo was unloaded onto dozens of trucks belonging to the Israeli Army's transportation units and transported to Air Force bases.
The White House issued instructions to the U.S. Department of Defense to lift the ban on the supply of a shipment of bombs that the Biden administration had prohibited from being delivered.
The Israeli Ministry of Defense noted that it and the army "continue to enhance the processes of purchasing and transporting munitions. To date, more than 76,000 tons of military equipment have arrived in Israel in 678 air flights and 129 sea shipments. This is the largest air and sea shipping operation in the history of the State of Israel.
Israeli Defense Minister Yisrael Katz said that "the ammunition supplies that arrived in Israel last night, dispatched by the Trump administration, constitute an important asset for the Air Force and the Israeli Army and provide further evidence of the strong relationship between Israel and the United States.
He continued, "In our recent conversation, Defense Secretary (Pete) Hegseth reaffirmed the United States' commitment to continuing to provide Israel with all the tools necessary to ensure its security. I thank President Donald Trump and the U.S. administration for their steadfast stance alongside the State of Israel, and we will continue to work together to enhance our security.
