A Turkish delegation is scheduled to visit Baghdad this month to discuss with officials the possibility of reaching an agreement to determine Iraq's water share.
According to the Iraqi Minister of Water Resources, Aoun Diab Abdullah, speaking to the official newspaper, "An Iraqi delegation will later visit Ankara after the Turkish delegation's visit, aiming to reach a clear agreement between the two parties to address the anticipated drought and water scarcity expected next summer.
He revealed the existence of a previous agreement between Turkey and Syria regarding the releases of the Euphrates River from the Atatürk Dam, confirming that it is still in effect, in addition to another bilateral agreement between Turkey and Iraq, which divides the Euphrates' water flow from Ankara to Syria at a rate of 42% and Iraq at a rate of 58%. He confirmed that this agreement is also still in effect.
