Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani received the new Italian ambassador to Iraq, Mr. Nicolo Fontana, on Sunday. He congratulated the ambassador on his new role and wished him success in his work.
During the meeting, they discussed bilateral relations between the two countries and supported joint cooperation in various fields and sectors. They also addressed regional developments, particularly the situations in Syria and the ceasefire agreements in Gaza and Lebanon.
The Italian ambassador renewed the invitation for the prime minister to visit Italy and work on signing a strategic agreement between the two countries, similar to the agreements Iraq has signed with France and the United Kingdom.
