Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani launched the "Security Sector Training Program," aimed at empowering women in security institutions and enhancing their active participation in various tasks and ranks.
In his speech at the first Women's Security Conference held in Baghdad, Al-Sudani praised the efforts of women working in the security and military sectors, emphasizing that "holding this conference reflects the government's commitment to supporting women in all sectors, including the security sector, which has seen significant and qualitative female presence in all formations and security agencies over the past two years.
The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces reiterated his directives to security institutions to empower women, support their promotions and advancements, and provide opportunities for them to assume leadership positions. He commended the Ministry of Interior's efforts in creating new departments to enhance women's participation in various security fields and the presence of female volunteers in the Police College to support different security tasks.
Al-Sudani highlighted the Security Sector Reform Strategy 2024-2032, developed by the government, which aims to build the state, achieve security and stability, and continue reconstruction and developmental progress in Iraq. This is a shared responsibility led by members of the security forces from both genders.
He also recalled the honorable stance of Iraqi women and their support for the security forces during the liberation battles against ISIS, encouraging their sons to volunteer to fight terrorism and liberate the land, regardless of the sacrifices.
