The White House stated that U.S. President Donald Trump will seek the "complete denuclearization of North Korea.
National Security Council spokesperson Brian Hughes made this statement in response to an inquiry from a South Korean media outlet, saying that Trump will pursue complete denuclearization of North Korea, as he did during his first term, according to South Korea's KBS World Radio on Wednesday.
Hughes mentioned that Trump had a good relationship with Kim Jong Un, and that Trump's combination of toughness and diplomacy led to the first-ever commitment at the level of an American leader to complete denuclearization, referring to the joint statement signed by Trump and Kim during their first summit in Singapore in June 2018.
It is noted that under the 2018 document, both sides agreed to work towards the complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.
